why I like this site
by nancy drew ini like this site (aside from the fact that we have the jw experience in common) because i have come to realize that all of you are very creative, interesting & courageous.
it takes a special person to exit the jw's.
we all of course are also very different & thats good because we can learn from each other.

as jws we lived in an environment were being different especially in our thinking was more than just discouraged there were threats from the org & other jws. We have to learn to appreciate our differences and not be afraid to express disagreement w/o lashing out.
It takes time to learn its ok to have an opinion about the creator, bible the future and get out of that treacherous heart crap that made us afraid to have thought & feelings of our own. we were taught that if we felt unhappy about something the gb said we were weak possibly dangerous & deserved destruction. that stuff messes with your head.
here we can say what we want & were among others who understand because of this similiar experience.

This may sound kinda stupid to some...
by babygirl30 in...but i miss my kitties and i miss my lil niece!
once i decided not to 'return' to the org, and let my parents know - they began to shun me.
broke my heart at first, but it is what it is.

It's really terrible what this organization is doing to people/families. when you discover the lies & deceit and your conscience won't let you continue to lie to others at the door by telling them this is the truth they hold your family hostage by saying you can't have their love & care unless you submit to us. I hate them for what they are doing and I'm so sorry for all the pain that they cause.
be strong never give in to them

Convention Starts Today for My Little JW Daughter
by snowbird inshe's going to leave before the session ends in order to get to work.. that's a first for her!.
one step at a time .... syl.

sylvia,
I think its a good sign, for me the convention was one of the first things that made me realize my enthusiasm was fading. It starts with daydreaming long trips to the restroom walks thru the hallways missing one day than two. The feeling of dread weeks before and than one day it all collapses and clarity begins.
lets hope its the beginning for her.

Jehovah the lunatic god
by transhuman68 ini was virtually a born-in dub, as my mother was baptized when i was four or five; i was the bible study of two separate long-suffering brothers in my home cong before i walked out, never getting baptized.. i absorbed all the teachings of the witnesses, and always believed that the bible was in some way the word of god.
now i am re-reading living in sin, by john shelby spong.. although at the time he wrote the book he was a bishop of the episcopal church, he states that the bible, or at least the hebrew scriptures, was written by the israelites using their imaginary god to explain their victories and defeats; to provide an explanation of their history.. i had always taken it for granted the god had chosen the israelites to be his people: but maybe they chose god.. why would the creator of the universe choose an obscure tribe in the middle east, leading them back and forth across the desert and in and out of captivity, interfering with everything they did; while totally ignoring everybody else living on the earth at that time?.
a modern analogy would be god coming to earth and choosing the brooklyn dodgers as his chosen team and ignoring every other team, and coaching them so the dodgers would always win.. what sort of petty, bored, lunatic bigoted god would do that?.

nancy drew
brooklyn dodgers haven't thought about them since I was a kid.
Your right about the ancient hebrews, the whole time I was a witness I was troubled by much of the violence & insanity of the scriptures trying to find some resolution in my mind & heart. I always felt that I was searching to find the love & goodness in the constant tales of genocide.

New video series: Watchtower Wacky Chronology - part 1
by Awakened at Gilead inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx3axapixma.
it's been a while since i've been around here, i've been working on my master's which i finished this month.
anyway, here's my latest video - this one about gilead school and 1919. let me know what you think.... a@g.

nancy drew
Great video, looking forward to the next ones.
always felt that 1919 was their whole reason to be, its the way they claim that they and the creator are one and thats why they require obedience to their every whim.
